Henderson County Community Hospital offers emergency care services when you need them most. The emergency department team is ready to assist you in emergency situations.

Our emergency department is a specialized area of the hospital designed to care for patients with acute illnesses and urgent injuries.

                  Arriving:

Upon your arrival at Henderson County Community Hospital, a triage nurse will register you and talk with you about your symptoms. During triage, our nursing staff determines the level of severity of your illness or injury. This helps our staff to provide prompt and appropriate attention to patients with the most critical health emergencies. Next, you'll be placed in a treatment room, where an emergency doctor will conduct an examination and order diagnostic tests, if necessary.

                  Plan of care:

If tests are ordered, you will be in the ER until the results are received and analyzed and shared with the doctor overseeing your care. The typical timeframe for administering and processing some common diagnostic tests include:

                  • Blood tests: 1 hour
                  • CT scans: 90-120 minutes
                  • Ultrasound: 90-120 minutes
                  • Urine Tests: 30 minutes
                  • X-rays: 60-90 minutes

If your doctor determines that a stay at the hospital is necessary, we will contact a private or on-site physician, if you don't already have a primary care physician. This person will be responsible for your care once you've been moved from the emergency department to inpatient care.

                  Going home:

When you leave Henderson County Community Hospital, you will receive instructions for your continued care. Our nurses will explain each medication prescribed and any possible side effects.

Once you've returned home, our staff will follow up with you to see if you have questions about your care or feedback about your experience at our hospital. You may receive a follow-up call asking about your care.
